Island Peak via Everest Base Camp and Kongma La Pass Trek is one of the most legendary treks in the world. This trek literally confronts you to an eight-thousander. Then crosses a tough high mountain pass, and takes you to the top of a stunning mountain peak. The trek sharpens your hunger for mountains as the trial goes through spectacular landscapes, traditional Sherpa villages and luscious alpine forests. Finally, it reaches the trek’s ultimate destination, the summit of Island Peak (6,189m).

After a thrilling flight to Lukla, the Island Peak via Everest Base Camp and Kongma La Pass trek starts with a hike up the Dudh Koshi Valley. The rising peaks of Thamserku (6,608m) and Kusum Khangkaru (6,367m) bounds this place. The trail then heads toward Namche Bazaar, a busy Sherpa land. From Namche, the trek moves on to Tengboche, home to the biggest monastery in the whole Khumbu region—Tengboche Monastery.

The trail then takes you past several Sherpa settlements like Pangboche, Pheriche, Dughla, and Lobuche to reach the moraine trail of the Khumbu Glacier. Finally,  towards Everest Base Camp. A breath-taking view of Everest (8,848m) and several other peaks of the region await you at the Everest base camp. Adventurous hike to Kala Patthar (5,550m) rewards you with a stunning mountain view accompanied by a gorgeous sunrise.

Later, a steep trail through Khumbu Glacier takes you to the frozen pass of Kongma La (5,535m), adding thrill to the already exhilarating trek. The trek then finally takes you to the Island Peak Base Camp, from where you make the exciting climb to the summit of Island Peak (6,189m). Finally, it hosts mind-blowing panorama of various snow-capped peaks of the Khumbu and the Makalu regions. Full Board During The Trek

    Welcome to Nepal! Our representatives will be waiting for you at the airport. You will be picked from the airport and transferred to the hotel room. Enjoy the evening strolling in the streets of Thamel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel.

    Today you go for a guided tour of the world heritage sites of Kathmandu Valley. You will be visiting places like Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath Temple. These places hold special historical and cultural significance and are enlisted as world heritage sites by UNESCO. Later, you will be given information about the trip, such as the safety measures, and your clothing and trekking equipment will also be checked. Overnight at the hotel.

    After breakfast, we take an early morning flight to Lukla. The 35-minute flight takes you over the high hills and mountains and gives you an aerial view of the mesmerizing landscape of eastern Nepal until we land in Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful and dangerous airports in the world. Upon our arrival in Lukla, the rest of the staff members will be met and introduced to you. Then we start our trek through the flourishing village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.

    After breakfast, we walk through lovely pine forests and then alongside the Dudh Koshi River. We come across the views of the shining Mt. Thamserku (6,623m) and Ama Dablam (6,856m) and also catch glimpses of Mt. Everest (8,848m). We continue ascending until we arrive at the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo, and then we walk forward to reach the picture-perfect Namche Bazaar, which is the gateway to Everest. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

    This is the day for acclimatization. Health specialists recommend that we stay active and move around instead of being lazy. We can either wander around Namche’s old-fashioned villages or visit the Sherpa Museum to understand the Sherpa lifestyle and their rich culture. We can walk up to the Everest View Hotel (3,962m) for an up-close view of the huge Everest (8,848m). Then we will climb up towards Khumjung and Khunde villages and explore the Khumjung Gompa which is famous for the Yeti’s scalp that is displayed in the monastery. We will also visit Khunde Hillary Hospital in Khunde village. Afterward, hike back to Namche for the overnight stay.

    After breakfast, we trek towards Tengboche. It is an easy stroll from Namche to Phunke Tenga (3,250m). We ascend towards Tengboche, a village which houses the largest monastery of Khumbu region—Tengboche Monastery. We visit the monastery and appreciate the beauty of it along with the astonishing view of the snow-clad Himalayas in the backdrop. Tengboche is a famous destination among the tourists, so you can explore this village freely. Overnight in Tengboche.

    On this day, we will head forward towards Pheriche. We walk through a forested trail and cross a river to reach Pangboche (3,930m), a traditional Sherpa village. Next, we pass by villages like Somare and Jamdang then finally reach Pheriche, a beautiful village located on the riverside with an amazing view of Everest (8,848m), Nuptse (7,861m), Taboche (6,367m), and Ama Dablam (6,856m). Overnight in Pheriche.

    A short walk from Pheriche leads us to the edge above Dingboche and passes the small Chorten and above the Khumbu Khola valley. Continue ascending alongside the river until reaching Dughla. Get the views of the majestic peaks of Pumori (7,165m), Nuptse (7,861m), Lobuche (6,119m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), and several other peaks. Then the trail sharply goes uphill past an array of Chortens adorned with prayer flags to reach Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche.

    Continue the trek on the left bank of Khumbu Glacier and ascend through the moraines to reach Gorakshep. A steep uphill climb through the moraines takes us to Everest Base Camp, from where we get an uninterrupted view of Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,414m), Pumori (7,165m), Lingtren (6,749m), Khumbutse (6,665m), Nuptse (7,861m), and several other snow-clad peaks along with the Khumbu Icefall and other glaciers. Then, retracing our route along the moraine trail, we return to Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.

    We start hiking to Kala Patthar before dawn so that we can catch the mesmerizing sunrise view. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren (6,749m), Khumbutse (6,636m), and Everest (8,848m) begins to reveal themselves. Upon reaching Kala Patthar, we watch the first rays of sun drape the gigantic Everest (8,848m) in its pinkish-orange color. After watching the breath-taking view, we return to Gorakshep and continue to trek downhill to Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche.

    After breakfast, we trek via Khumbu Glacier to Kongma La Base Camp (5,000m). The ascent to cross Kongma La (5,535m) is the most difficult part of the trek. Upon reaching the top of Kongma La, we can see the landmark wrapped in prayer flags. An astonishing view of Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,414m), Makalu (8,463m), and many other peaks of Khumbu can be seen from the top of Khongma La. We then slowly move towards Imja Khola valley, followed by an incline to reach Chhukhung. After reaching Chhukhung, we check our gear to get ready for our ultimate climb. Overnight in Chhukhung.

    The trek to Island Peak Base Camp is on steep track. First, we ascend towards the main route of Imja valley from Chhukhung. We then hike on a twisting path below the moraine of Lhotse Glacier and trek around Imja Tsho to reach Island Peak Base Camp. Enjoy the close-up view of the surrounding peaks, including Island Peak (6,189m), Lhotse (8,414m), Nuptse (7,861m), and so on. Overnight at the base camp.

    Today our climbing guide gives you a pre-climb training on the proper ways of using gears such as the ice axe, climbing boots, ascender, etc. We can spend the rest of the day climbing to high camp and enjoying the beautiful landscape. Overnight at the base camp.

    The trail moves along the base camp area before striking off the steep hill. As we ascend, we will find that the slope contracts with several short staircases to climb. Our Sherpas would have fixed ropes in required areas early son, so we will use those ropes and follow the instructions of our climbing guide to reach the top of Island Peak (6,189m). From the summit of Island Peak (6,189m), we can get spectacular views of the vast Mahalangur Himalayan Range and the Makalu range as well. After relishing the summit views and taking pictures, we descend to Island Peak Base Camp for the overnight stay.

    We descend from Island Peak Base Camp and retrace our path towards Pheriche. En route, we get to relish wonderful sights of Mt. Ama Dablam (6,856m). From Pheriche, we continue descending to Pangboche. Pangboche is a scenic village surrounded by the peaks of Ama Dablam (6,856m), Thamserku (6,608m), and Taboche (6,367m). Overnight in Pangboche.

    From Pangboche, we walk downhill through the forest alongside Imja Khola to reach Tengboche. Crossing the bridge over Dudh Koshi River, we move over the Dudh Koshi gorge through the pine forests before arriving in Sanasa. Then descending on the ridge to cross a Chorten, we reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

    We return to Lukla (3,404m), where this beautiful journey started. We’ll take time to enjoy the achievement as a group and as an individual. You’ll also have enough time to sink in nature. Enjoy the environment and share stories with the local people. Since today is the last day of the trek, you can also tip the porters, if you wish to. Overnight in Lukla.

    We take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla, relishing the view of the mountains one last time. On arrival, you will be taken to the hotel. Later, you can wander around the streets of Kathmandu and do some shopping to gift your friends and families. Feel free to get the taste of local food and the lovely ambiance of Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

    Today is the farewell day.
