This trek provides the pupils with an insight into the practices of Buddhism and how the Tibeto-Burman ethnic group, Tamang, have kept the traditions alive in their ancient monasteries like Kyanjin Gumba.
The journey to Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley
Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi and later follows the trails of Langtang River, taking you to the beautiful Tamang settlements nestled in the lap of the Langtang Himal Rage. Thus, this trek combines astonishing views of the Himalayan ranges whilst making the pupils aware of the local culture.
We visit many Tamang villages, situated across Bhote Koshi River before heading on to the Langtang Valley. Then walking through the thick forest of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron, the trek takes you to the picturesque Langtang village. This village resides right below the Langtang Lirung (7227m).
The famous Kyangin Gompa and Yala Cheese Factory
From Langtang village, the trek reaches the famous Kyangin Gompa, the most sacred monastery of the region. Furthermore, you can have a cheese tasting session at the Yala Cheese Factory. You will have many stops along the way and can take pictures with friends as well as the local people; so that you have the memory to last a lifetime.
The Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek is even more fun when pupils interact with the local kids, who are very shy. The kids may not know English at all but are very curious and welcoming. Your school trip then comes to an end as you move back to Kathmandu via Dhunche.
