Chisopani Nagarkot Yoga Trek

Performing yoga in a natural landscape can offer a sense of peace and calm unlike anywhere else. What could be better than doing yoga in a refreshingly natural environment? Chisapani Nagarkot Yoga Trek offers an incredible feeling where the mind can have a chance to relax, and a sense of well-being can be enjoyed, along with a beautiful trek in the Shivapuri National Park. Just outside of the capital city of Kathmandu, Nepal, there are fantastic trails throughout the national park. These trails are filled with waterfalls, deep forests, and lovely villages such as Sundarijal to Mulkharka. Glorious sunrises and sunsets will mesmerize from viewpoints in Nagarkot and Changu Narayan Temple. These two vantage points will showcase the Everest Region of the broader Himalayan Mountains surrounding the Kathmandu Valley.

The journey starts in Kathmandu and heads towards the countryside from Sundarijal (1325m). Various flora and fauna can be seen not long after leaving the city in the idyllic rural communities outside of Kathmandu. Along the way, we come across the Tamang community village of Mulkharka. We continue on to trek higher and gain a better vantage for viewing the mountains.

The beautiful greenery of the trail towards Chisapani (2215m) is definitely one of the highlights. The trail ascends through rhododendron forest where the hike will stop to enjoy some restful and relaxing yoga. It is a restorative practice with plenty of post-yoga time to reflect on the practice before continuing on. Soon the trek reaches the hill station of Nagarkot (1965m). The Himalayan Mountains serve as the backdrop for this next yoga session. The incredible sunset and sunrise views while doing yoga will enhance the practice. These lovely mountain views lead towards the “Changu Narayan Temple"; the ancient pagoda style temple overlooking the Kathmandu valley. The temple is sculpted in stone and is one of the gems of Nepalese history. This trek reveals the history, culture, and ecological diversity so distinct.
