Nar Phu Trek

Nar Phu Valley Trek, also known as the snow leopard trek, is located to the north of Annapurna massif and was opened to tourists only recently in 2003. Nar Phu Valley Trek comprises of two remote but spectacular villages of Nar and Phu in Manang district that exudes the peaceful culture of Tibetan Buddhism practiced in the hidden valley. Nar Phu Valley is one of the least explored trails in the Annapurna region hence acquainting the trekkers with pristine nature and culture.

The 18-days Nar Phu Valley Trek takes through the least traveled trail giving trekkers an opportunity to experience the traditional culture and hard lifestyle of people of Nar Phu valley. The hidden valley is surrounded by the Annapurna range to the south, Damodar Himal to the west, Gangla and Gangru Mountains to the east, and Peri Himalaya to the north. So this trek offers extraordinary views of Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre Himal (6993m), Lamjung Himal (6983m), Manaslu (8163m), and many other white Himalayas. The trekking trail of Nar Phu takes through narrow gorges to remote villages, densely forested area, narrow canyons, Chortens and gompas, vast cultivation areas, pasture lands, and rough and rugged terrain. Since the trekking route is culturally rich, trekkers also get to visit the famous Tashi Lha Khang Monastery and receive a blessing from Lama Karma Sonam Rinpoche. The people in the area mostly follow Buddhist religion which offers trekkers a chance to learn and understand their religious practice from up close. The trek also features the high altitude pass—Kang La Pass (5322m), which provides a great view of Himalayan peaks mentioned earlier. The trekking route also passes through various villages of Annapurna region like Bahundanda, Chamje, Bagarchhap, Koto, Phu, Nar, Ngawal, Chame, and Tal. Nar Phu Valley Trek is an extraordinary trek to explore the high alpine villages of Phu and Nar with their unique geographical features and medieval culture and tradition.
