Tso-Rolpa Lake, situated in Rolwaling valley, is a humongous glacial lake at an altitude of 4580 meters between the Langtang range and the Everest range. Although it is extremely unlikely that you will meet one, Tsho-Rolpa Lake Trek in itself is an enthralling one as awe-inspiring views of the Everest range, Langtang range, and Mt. Gaurishankar is the other highlights of the tree beside the lake itself.
Yetis, live in the Rolwaling Valley which is one of the seven hidden valleys. The route is nearby the Nepal-Tibet border so you might as well get to explore the Tibetan culture. The Buddhist people inhibit the majority of the area. You pass through Brahmin, Chhetri, Sherpa and Tamang villages. In the medieval city of Kathmandu, which is only the beginning of your adventure, your apprtite will whet with sightseeing in some popular landmark.
Next up is a bumpy ride to Shingati as you pass through Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers. On your way, you will be accompanied by peaks such as Rolwaling/Melungtse (7181m), and Gaurishankar (7134m). You follow your path along the Tamakoshi River where you pass through several picturesque and quaint villages into Rolwaling valley; the tales of the abominable snowman- the Yetis- haunt the imagination of the trekkers Then, finally reach the magnificent glacial Tso-Rolpa Lake.

The lake is one of the biggest glacial lakes in Nepal and has grown continuously over the last five decades because of glacial melting and threatens to burst through its unstable dam. In awe of the glacial lake surrounded by the magnificent Himalayas, the difficulties during the trek are instantly forgotten. One other highlight of Tsho-Rolpa Lake Trek is the Bigu Gompa. Bigu Gompa is a great nunnery institute which once sheltered over 300 nuns. It lies in the village of Bigu. Bigu is a village at the foot of the Rolwaling Himal which is a quaint village where one can explore the local village culture and excellent mountain views. It is considered a difficult journey, but the journey and the destination make an affordable cost of effort and difficulty. It is a better choice to trek in seasons other than the monsoon and the winter.
